Ken Nguyen

Ken Nguyen is an award-winning educator, audio engineer, and multi-instrumentalist based in Toronto. As a professor at Trebas Institute, his commitment to excellence in education earned him the Excellence in Teaching Award from Career Colleges Ontario in both 2022 and 2024.

His professional foundation includes working at Sound Ideas, contributing to foley recording and sound library development utilized by major studios such as 20th Century Fox, Universal, and Warner Bros. He has also engineered sessions at Number 9 Audio Group and 793 Studios, handling recording and mixing for musical artists, bands, voiceover talents, and audiobooks. Beyond the studio, his live production experience encompasses roles as a live sound technician and stage manager at prominent festivals including Canadian Music Week, Indie Week, Open Tuning Festival, and WayHome Music & Arts Festival.

As an independent freelancer, he provides mixing, post-production, and scoring services for film and media. His film credits span independent features such as Red Pine City, Cape Holly Christmas, Black Mariah, and Mad Man, where he has contributed as an ADR recordist, audio editor, music supervisor, and sound designer.

Active in the broader audio community, he serves as an AVID demonstrator showcasing Pro Tools features at events like Universal Music Canada’s 80A Studios and IMSTA FESTA Toronto. He also contributes to the Audio Educator Advisory Group for developers including Bettermaker, Dreamtonics, Eventide, Flock Audio, Oeksound and Steinberg, collaborating on product feedback and curriculum integration for emerging audio technologies.
